I grappled with perceived contradictions between the teachings of Jesus and the Apostle Paul, particularly regarding justification by works versus faith and being under the law versus under grace. Despite my frustration and avoidance of Paul’s epistles, I sought guidance from the Holy Spirit and studied scripture diligently, aiming to reconcile these differences without resorting to allegorical explanations.

I struggled to reconcile discrepancies between Paul’s and James’ teachings on salvation, particularly regarding works. Listening to Les Feldick’s radio show, I discovered the concept of “rightly dividing the word of truth,” emphasizing the importance of understanding the Bible’s context and audience. This revelation clarified my understanding of much of the biblical discrepancies.

Understanding scripture requires considering the context, including who spoke, to whom, when, where, and with what intent. The Apostle Paul’s teachings, post-crucifixion, are crucial for understanding the changes brought about by Jesus’ sacrifice.
